The International Snow Training Academy Discovery Course

The cost of the International snow training academy discovery course is 240 CHF. Please get in contact for more details. There is an option to stretch the course out over two days. This would mean more riding time for all. The growth of snowboarding globally has meant we are have to look  further for untouched powder fields. We all have to take responsibility for assessing the dangers that come with that. The International Snow training academy course Discovery will give you knowledge and confidence to ride safely all over the mountain.

THE BASI SNOWBOARDING LEVEL ONE PROCESS

The BASI snowboarding level one exam process could also be called the snowboard foundation course. This qualification sits at the very start of the BASI snowboarding exam pathway and will help you gain employment in snowdomes, dry slopes and possibly with some snow sport schools in a mountain environment. It will introduce you to the BASI snowboarding product, the terminology used and give you the ability to deliver lessons. Whatever standard your technical riding is at it will give you a makeover and something new to think about in your snowboarding approach.

The following areas are to be covered:
- Level one snowboard course which is a five day on snow exam.
- First-Aid Course
- Child protection module is an online course
- 35 hours Snowsports school experience

The technical riding criteria which will need to be performed consistently throughout the course:
- Perform cleanly all phases of the central theme (Central theme being the basic lesson progression from day one learner through to linking turns together)

- Demonstrate in both standard and switch
- Demonstrate effective and strong posture/balance.
- Nose and tail presses, ollies and nollies.
- Frontside and backside 180
- Cleanly carve the last two thirds of the turn on a green or easy blue piste.

35 hours snowboard school experience: this needs to be completed after your level 1 course.
- Can be looking at the day to day running of a snowsports school.
- Shadowing different style lessons and instructors on the mountain.
- How feedback is taken onboard and used to improve standards.

Once all these components are completed a level one snowboard license will be issued by BASI. This is the beginning of the instructing voyage. It could almost be looked at as an intensive snowboard lesson. It will increase your overall technical riding ability while giving you a broader knowledge. The level 2 is the next exciting step.

THE BEST TERRAIN IN THE WORLD FOR SNOWBOARDING

Verbier has some of the best terrain in the world for snowboarding, so why not come and join us this coming winter 2017/18. The mountain has achieved an almost mythical status amongst the snowboard and ski community world wide. The lift accessed off-piste is just one of its many alluring charms. Mont Gele for example is a 3000m peak with lift access to the very top. It has an itinerary route down one face but it is an unmarked , off-piste heaven. Nothing is manicured and prepared, its rough and rugged , a true mountain experience.

The Beauty about the terrain on offer is there is something for everyone. Beginners wanting to make as many turns as possible can enjoy some of the sweeping blue and red runs. These are  littered around the mountain. These will have beginner riders building their skills and confidence. For the intermediate rider wanting to step their game up and venture in to the backcountry. The mountain is strewn with various terrain zones that will help aid progression. The under rated savoleyres might lack the steepness of the Verbier mountain. It has awesome tree runs and terrain in between runs that is perfect to gain skills riding off-piste. Savoleyres is a real gem when the light is flat and the snow is hammering down. The trees and the geographical position close to the Rhone valley means it can often get more visibility  Verbier.

Bruson

Bruson is a small resort over the other side of the valley from Verbier. Its a backcountry dream with tree runs, pillow lines and much more. Its a mid winter treat so usually works between December and the beginning of March. The resorts have now been linked up via a gondola through the Le Chable which is slowly becoming a destination in itself to stay during your trip to the 4 valleys.

The importance of a park should not be over looked in any resort. Winter 2016/17 was the worst in memory  but the Verbier Snowpark crew did a sterling job in creating something out of nothing. There are features for all levels of riders.

Rock Garden, Stairway , Highway , Hidden Valley are just a handful of the hundreds of off-piste routes that make the mountains around Verbier some of the best terrain in the world for snowboarding. Come and explore these magical mountains. We offer private lessons and guiding as well as an introduction to backcountry snowboarding and a more advanced Freeride camp. Check out dates on our site and get in contact to find out more details.

END OF SEASON UPDATE 2016/17.

End of season update 2016/17 for Vivid Snowboarding in Verbier. 2016/17 will not be remembered for its volume of snow. November saw widespread snowfall across the Alps. A few team members enjoyed early season powder in both Zermatt and Stubai. A lingering high pressure parked up over central Europe lead to endless sunny days with no precipitation in Verbier. The beginning of December was mainly spent riding park on the Glacier 3000. The park consists of beginner to intermediate kicker lines. Perfect for getting ones skills tuned up for the coming season. The holiday period of Christmas and New year was mainly spent riding on artificial snow. The Verbier mountain staff did an epic job is creating widespread cover across the mountain. The advantage of Verbier over some of its neighbouring resorts is its altitude. It has the ability to blow snow when mother nature has not been playing ball.   A few natural snowfalls were seen mid January and then more in mid February. Our first backcountry camp was a success and we look forward to more camps next winter.

Verbier Snowpark

As much as the lack of snow effected the more backcountry minded rider. The Verbier Park crew knocked up one of the better the parks seen in the resort over the last few winters. They seem to be making a slightly more user friendly park which matches the natural terrain of La Chaux. Nothing too big and scary with progressive features for all levels of rider. We also saw an encouraging number of new riders on the mountain this past winter . The lack of snow was meaning a few skiers were making the cross over to set themselves a new challenge.

Lots of new and exciting projects for the summer and beyond for Vivid Snowboarding. Keep an eye on our social media channels . Thank you to all our clients who enjoyed sessions with us over the winter. We look forward to seeing you all again next winter.

A whole range of boards were available to test at the Burton Snowboards test day. Some more freeride shapes were on offer in the form of the Landlord, flight attendant and branch manager. These were all strong performers when hitting up some playful off-piste terrain. The general feel from the team was that the Flight Attendant was the most versatile out of the freeride test boards. We also tested out a few of the different freestyle shapes. The new Custom freestyle through to the process and process of axis were all quality boards. The general vibe was the process with the cartel binding seemed liked the overall freestyle winner.  [/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]

The twin Custom was also a firm favourite ridden by the team. This was an awesome twin tip shape and handled kickers like a total dream. It was a real pleasure to ride through the park on the twin.

The regular Burton Custom was also a  clear favourite. This was tested in both the camber version and the Flying V shape. We felt the camber board gave a lot more performance through the turn.
