How to become a PRO freeride athlete on FWT ?

Preparation

Reaching the Freeride World Tour requires far more than strong skiing or snowboarding skills. Today's top athletes combine physical conditioning, mental preparation, terrain analysis, and mountain safety knowledge to perform at the highest level. Coaches help riders study competition faces, evaluate line choices, and adapt to changing conditions, while mental training plays a key role in managing pressure on competition day.

Successful run

A successful FWT run starts long before the start gate. Riders must read terrain, identify hazards, prepare multiple line options, and make smart decisions under pressure. Avalanche awareness, risk management, and backcountry education are now considered essential skills for every competitive freerider.

Our strategy

At Freeride Academy, our training develops the complete freeride athlete through technical coaching, line inspection strategies, competition preparation, and mountain safety education—helping riders progress from local events to the highest levels of freeride competition.

What Is Line Inspection in Freeride Competitions?

riders cannot ride the face before competition
they analyse terrain visually only
they study snow conditions, exposure, cliffs, exits, speed zones
they prepare multiple line options depending on conditions
this is one of the most important parts of FWT preparation

FWT Judging strongly values

  • line choice

  • fluidity

  • control

  • terrain usage

  • air style
