Here are just a few of the advantages of taking a guide:
- Being taken to the best snow conditions on any given day. Our guides have been riding these mountains for over 20 years. They know all the very best places to ride through out Verbier and the 4Vallies. Even when the conditions have been dry in the mountains our guides will be able to find you fresh snow to ride.
- Terrain choice is key. Your guide will match the difficulty of the terrain to the level of the crew who are riding. Its never worth stepping too far outside your comfort zone. Your guide will be on hand to take you to where is best and most suitable.
- Even in adverse weather conditions when the cloud is in we can find amazing tree runs for you to enjoy. Always worth checking the local forecast to see how daily weather will progress and for wearing the correct clothing everyday FORECAST
- Safety is our No.1 priority. Your guides are all highly trained and are constantly refreshing their qualifications. They will show how to use your safety equipment and will install confidence and get you comfortable in the mountain environment.

Spot Check: Mont Gele
Spot Check : Mont Gele
Mont Gele sits at the height of 3023m above sea level. It has routes down all sides from the peak. A single cable takes riders up to the peak and you can choose form thousands of different lines on the way down. On the south side of the mountain you can access La Chaux via an itinerary route. The route is clearly marked out with yellow markers. You can check to see if this is open when exiting the cabin of the cable car. There are also plenty of different off-piste routes on the south with varying difficulty. Definitely worth taking a Vivid Snowboarding coach in order to find the best routes and conditions.
Check out the team VIVID
Mont Gele also has a main itinerary route off the top heading down towards the Col des Gentianes and the bottom of tortin. This is easiest route but some of the terrain on the way out is relatively flat so speed is required.
The mountain has plenty of different couloirs and slopes coming down into the Lac des Vaux area. Again these vary slightly in terms of their difficulty. Make sure you know how the snow pack is and a route down before dropping in.
As Mont Gele is a high alpine mountain, its worth checking out the weather conditions each day to get the low down. You can check these out here WEATHER

MID SEASON
MID SEASON - Vivid Snowboarding Verbier
Mid season in Verbier has seen some more huge snowfalls in the last few weeks .The resort has gone into holiday mode with slightly larger lift lines in key areas. All the mountain has great cover and the snow has been amazing up top. Be careful when riding off piste as the avalanches have been ripping out in certain areas of the mountain. http://genevalunch.com/2013/02/13/update-2-two-nendaz-verbier-avalanches-wednesday-kill-1-leave-2-critical/
Be super careful when you are venturing off-piste. It worth taking a guide or coach who knows the area. Always have your safety equipment and know how to use it! It is always worth checking the avalanche risk scale on a daily basis and look out for danger warnings.
If its been snowing heavily for a long period of time and this has ben mixed with different temperatures and wind then the avalanche risk will be high. Adapt your riding according to conditions. Don't look to ride on steep exposed slopes. Always look for mellow terrain where the risk of a slide ripping out is nothing.
Don't hesitate to get in touch with us here at Vivid Snowboarding if you need any information about riding off-piste. Our door is always open to everyone.
All the team have been busy both working and enjoying the hill.
