Myoko is in the north west of the main island of Japan. It is in the Niigata region. The geographical positioning of the resort means that it receives an abundance of snow fall each winter. Storm fronts roll out of Siberia and across the South China Sea. All the time picking up moisture which in turn results in large snowfalls over the Japanese Alps. Myoko on average receives between 12m - 15metres of snow per winter.
The resort of Myoko is made up of a series of different stations which are situated across the mountain. They are linked together via bus and lift connections. Each station has a really unique feel with a great variety of terrain. Here are a few of the different stations:
- Ikenotaira is home to one of the largest snowparks in Japan. The mountain has beautiful forest runs. Littered through out the mountain are various parks with features for all levels. This station is super rider friendly.
- Suginohara has the biggest amount of vert out of all the stations, it also has the highest peak at 1'855m. Some awesome splitboarding terrain here.
- Akakura Onsen is one of the more popular stations. Each week you can find night riding with a floodlight snowpark.
